Merry Christmas!!!!

New years resolution....... a post a week at least!!!

Went to a friends Christmas brunch and loved her Christmas decorations so much that I felt the need to post a few pics.

TRINA LUCIDO from The PAPER FLEA is one of the most talented ladies I have ever met! Every room in her house was so festive. ( and... She hand made most of the items)!
Enjoy the pictures, and look at her details!

Trina makes these adorable trees.  Each is unique and different.

Love this!

All hand made.  Look at this snowman. So adorable.

Hope this inspires you a little for the 2014 Christmas Decoration season??  :)  If I had only posted this a month ago!!! Oh well, short but sweet!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

End of Summer

Living in Virginia, one of the highlights really is having 4 seasons. It is now the end of August and Back to school has approached us. I hate saying goodbye to summer!  But.... time to start decorating and changing things up a little.

What is new for fall?

Well!  Funny you should ask :)....We have been buying a lot again!  Ready to help you out with some new items to perk up your fall.
Fantastic Danish Mid Modern Ottoman.  Seat? Footrest? small side table???  Love.

Long Rope Gilt coffee table.  This gold will warm up any room in your house.

Belgian Chest of drawers with original key.  Perfect size.
Mongolian wool stool on Lucite with wheels.  What can we say?  LOVE
This table is hand made.  We had 100 year old pine cut and place in an industrial base .  We added wheels for easy moving. and here you go. Unique....and one of a kind.
Old ornate doors.  Look at the Clavos on it!  Prop them, hang them, have them installed to be functional in your home. Shoot....I want them. (But, Steph and I agree when we both really want something...we sell it instead to be fair.  LUCKY YOU!)
This is an amazing Copper top and front Trunk.  I cant begin to do it justice.  The inside was handcrafted with amazing wooden drawers that slide (see below)  So different from anything we have seen.  And Copper is so in right now.

How amazing are these Campaign tables made?  The bases are hand forged iron.

We only have a couple of these left.  We have had a few purchased to make lamps out of.  I like them just as they are.  Just so different. What were they?  No idea.
These are just a few of many new items....still need to photograph. See you soon.

"BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE"

Blessings in Disguise

For the past 10 years my family has been going to Seaside Florida to enjoy the amazing Gulf Coast waters,  family attractions and quaint surroundings.

One of my favorite things to do in Seaside is to shop. (Yes imagine that! SHOP!) The southern clothing shops/Boutiques that have one of a kind clothing and jewelry and the art galleries that inspire me every time  that I walk through them.

As usual..... I wasn't disappointed!  I stumbled upon the most amazing jewelry. Little did I know, the artist was someone I had met at our last High Point trip.  I recognized  the business card and had to call her!

Melissa Rovner is the owner and artist of "BLESSINGS-IN-DISGUISE" jewelry company.

She and her sister started making jewelry when her mother brought them all her old costume jewelry for their kids during a Christmas visit.  Melissa and her sister started to take it apart and string pieces back together to tie around their presents.  Soon they had a successful ribbon and pearl business which got them noticed by the salvage group from the Titanic recovery.  They admired their craftsmanship and so said if they could work the coal from the Titanic, the commission was theirs.  They finally figured out how to harden and drill it and their work became part of that collection.  Now she searches the world for beautiful vintage & Antique materials, with a special affection for religious pieces, to make unique pieces of jewelry -- each with their own story.

I was so excited to visit her studio!  Below are some pictures!

What started it all........

A little blurry! :O  Im sorry!  But still had to post these amazing bracelets she makes out of medallions, leather and chain.

what to start with?
Crosses, so different.

Vintage chain, medallions and shade/leather.

Love!

Rosary chain

One of Melissa's newest pieces.  Has my name written all over it!

Stacking bracelets.  I wish my arm was much larger..I would surely wear them all.  at once!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!  The pictures don't due the pieces justice.  They are more amazing in person!
So,....finally , THE BARN ON SWEETWOOD is so proud to be the Virginia contact for their line of jewelry.

  BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE

You will be able to shop soon through our Facebook posts and our online store www.thebarnonsweetwood.com.  We will also have her line available at our next sale in September.  If you cant wait until September, then check our site and facebook often and we will post pics for you!
